It was a fine phone, until it came down with a crippling issue – This summer, the charging port of my Moto G7 broke for the second time. I decided to see if a phone with wireless charging capabilities could get around this problem. After some research, I settled on the Google Pixel 3, as I had always been curious about how a phone made by Google would be. The beginnings with the phone were rocky, as finding a case with a kickstand for the phone proved problematic. I wound up getting a case without a kickstand, which let the phone charge wirelessly. I later bought a magnetic kickstand, but this removed the phone’s wireless charging capability. But aside from that, the phone worked fine…that is, until recently. A few weeks ago, the phone began having an error where, out of nowhere, the news screen would pop up at random, and boot me back to the home screen, where all of my apps were gone. The phone was still running, and if I got a notification from an app, I could open it with that. Failing that, I could use the google assistant to open it, but once I backed out of the app, I was back on my appless home screen. The recent apps menu was blank, and when I opened that while in an app, the app would go away and here I was again. Resetting the phone or using the backup feature restored the apps, but before long it would happen again.

This Is An Amazing Phone, Don’t Fall Into The Trap Of Comparison Frenzy – After agonizing for months about which phone to buy, I chose to upgrade from my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to a Pixel 3 toward the end of November 2019. I read and watched every possible review on the Pixel 3 and 4 and nearly went with a 4, but realized the Pixel 3 had everything I was looking for in a phone (and more) for a much better price than the 4.

Great phone – This was a flagship phone just four years ago. It comes unlocked and is easy to put your current SIM card in. It has a sharp screen and takes great pictures. A little smaller than phones I have been using but I got to really like the size after a while. I was able to upgrade it to Android 12 which is just one behind the current version. And for around $30 I bought the generation one Google wireless charger which makes it easy to keep the phone charged up. Very happy.

The iPhone equivalent for Android users!!! – This phone is an AMAZING upgrade from my years of using BLU phones. I’m starting a little side business and needed a phone that could take high quality pictures without me having to invest heavily in camera equipment and this completely fit the bill! I couldn’t have asked for anything better and I love the fact that I was able to move just about everything from my old phone to this one in not time at all! The only draw backs are shorter battery life and privacy proding. On my old BLU phone, I could get away with not having to charge for two whole days but this Pixel 3 (with moderate use during a whole work day) tends to burn out right around late evening. As far as privacy goes, you can keep most of your things to yourself but, pop ups from multiple Google based apps asking for permission/access over and over again when you want to use something gets annoying over time. Otherwise, it’s not overly intrusive. It’s Google, what do you expect? At least they are kind enough to include the adapters for the headphone jack and USB connection because otherwise, I would have gone for the Pixel 3a. Overall, can’t wait for the Pixel 4 and see how improves!

$200 For this phone is a valued purchase – It’s best bang for your buck for the people who don’t care much about phones, but want a quality phone.
